La mobilité résidentielle de François Valesque, épicier en gros et échevin de Lyon (1706-1791)
Abstracts
Strong geographic mobility seems to have been one of the dominant patterns of urban life during the Ancien Regime. For a large part of population, this stemmed from difficulty in paying the rent and was linked to the weakness of the household. In the same time, the general renting system was an important factor of mobility. Private records reveal similar examples of mobility among elites where it was a social strategy.
