Une tournée antialcoolique dans la Loire pendant la Grande Guerre

Didier Nourrisson

Abstracts

In France, government schemmes against alcohol abuse were first set up during the First World War, as a follow-up of self-help awareness-raising campaigns led by the Ligue nationale contre l'alcoolisme. One of those campaigns, organized in a working class area, of vital importance for the Ministry of Defence, the Loire administration division, bears testimony of the hidden tensions which pervaded society at the time and shows the limitations of the Union sacrée.
